Priorities for Columbus

  • Leverage streetscape improvements on South Lumpkin and Buena Vista Roads, along with momentum around Synovus Park and the VECTR Center, to strengthen South Columbus and South Commons as hubs for jobs, investment, and community activity.

  • Modernize and streamline business licensing so it is more efficient, organized, and easier to open and operate a business in Columbus.

  • Create stronger connections between existing business resources (Chamber of Commerce, StartUp Columbus, and UGA Small Business Development Center) and South Columbus business owners, making it easier to access capital, mentoring, and technical assistance.

  • Prioritize job growth and industrial investment by focusing on opportunities at Jim Blanchard Industrial Park.

Together, we will build on proven economic successes and use strategic investments to grow jobs, small businesses, and opportunities across
District 7.

Economic Development

  • Leverage and support the work of the Housing Authority and Neighborworks to increase housing stock, especially workforce housing and entry-level homes

  • Expedite permitting processes and encourage zoning flexibility for smaller lots and smaller homes, where appropriate.

  • Consider implementing recommendations from the Columbus Regional Housing Study completed by United Way in August 2025.

We will increase attainable housing options and support policies that keep District 7 accessible for families, seniors, and working residents.

Housing Affordability

Our City Council will advocate for well-maintained parks, trails, and neighborhoods, and support projects that improve connectivity through sidewalks, trails, and streetscapes.

Quality Public Spaces

  • Work to ensure every District 7 resident has access to a sidewalk/trail and a park within safe walking distance of their home.

  • Prioritize investments that connect neighborhoods to schools, jobs, parks, and community destinations like the RiverWalk, Columbus Museum, and Fort Benning.

  • When funding public spaces, require long-term maintenance plans and dedicated budgets so these investments are cared for in perpetuity.

  • Expand youth initiatives, mentorship, and early intervention programs that prevent crime before it starts.

  • Strengthen partnerships between law enforcement, schools, neighborhoods, and community organizations to address root causes and repeat problem areas.

  • Support practical safety improvements such as lighting, crosswalks, and blight removal.

I believe it is essential to build on law enforcement successes and support community-driven strategies that reduce crime and improve safety across District 7.

Public Safety

It will be our priority to deliver results by working collaboratively with the Columbus Consolidated Government and staying accessible, transparent, and responsive to District 7 residents.

Relationships Matter

  • Work respectfully and collaboratively with fellow Councilors and City staff to deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Show up, listen, and follow through. Be accessible to District 7 residents.

  • Communicate decisions clearly and frequently to District 7 constituents.
